Home for Christmas - Are you allowed? Check your Backpacking Travel Insurance
Taking a gap year to travel the world is a liberating experience but inevitably there will be times, such as Christmas, when backpackers will want to be with their families.
If the home sick feeling gets too much the opportunity to travel home at this special time of year may be the perfect tonic. However, once they touchdown on British soil many travellers will find that their travel insurance will be invalidated - with no refund given for the time left on the policy.
The result? Travellers will have to pay for new insurance to cover the remainder of their trip - something they just haven't got the money to do.
However, travel insurance specialist InsureandGo has the answer. When taking out the company's adventure travellers policy, backpackers can include cover for home visits as well.
Perry Wilson, from InsureandGo, says: "At InsureandGo we strive to ensure that we are flexible enough to meet individual needs. By offering the home visit add-on we ensure that if a person does want to return to Britain to see their family at any point during their travels, such as for a special birthday or for Christmas, they can do so - and not invalidate their policy in the process."
The home visit add-on costs from as little as £6.43 and must be arranged before leaving the UK. For further information visit www.backpackersinsurance.co.uk or call 0870 225 9126.
