Market research has shown that Spain is the top destination in Europe for Brits. But one thing you shouldn't leave home without is a good travel insurance policy.

One provider InsureandGo offers policies for European short breaks to extended trips that include over 50 adventure sports automatically and cover under 18s for free.

Perry Wilson, says: "Don't just rely on the E111 to cover you for your trips to Spain. Its regulations may mean that you can't be treated at the nearest hospital should you get injured or sick. And it certainly won't help you pay for items such as your repatriation back to the UK or an extended hotel bill."
