About InsureandGo
InsureandGo’s mission statement
To exceed our customers’ expectations by providing insurance solutions that
offer extensive choice at unbeatable prices through exceptional service.
Company background
During the 90s the holiday, market started to evolve. With the growth of the
low-cost airlines and the Internet, booking trips directly became more and more
accessible for everyday consumers.
However, sales of travel insurance were monopolised by the travel agents because
buying cover with them was the most convenient way open to consumers at the
time. Whilst convenient, however, the travel agents often offered travel
insurance that gave inadequate cover for extortionate prices.
The founders of InsureandGo, James Richardson and Perry Wilson, saw that the
insurance industry just wasn’t offering consumers an alternative because the
administration involved was long and laborious. They also noticed that there was
no effective provision available online.
So Perry and James set about building a system that stripped away all unnecessary
paperwork and which offered consumers a quick and easy way to buy low cost cover
both online and over the phone.
When InsureandGo launched in September 2000, we used a bespoke sales system for
both the phone and web, which asked just three questions to produce a quote –
the trip length, the area of destination and the ages of the travellers. Once
these details were entered, we were able to give the customer a quote which was
cheap and competitive with cover that was comprehensive.
Through our simple philosophy of offering high-value cover for low prices, we
have been able to drive high volumes of business since our launch and, today, we
insure over two million people every year.
