Holidaymakers looking to take a trip this year could find that a cruise is a cheaper way to see the world.

While many Brits may be trying to reduce their holiday expenditure and bagging a low-cost break, essential holiday insurance cover should not be cut back on.

UK communications manager for Cruise Critic Ian Rumgay said that to keep the price of such a holiday down, people could stay in an inside cabin.

The number of people taking a cruise last year was around 13.2 million, an increase from the 12.56 million in 2007, according to figures published by the Cruise Lines International Association.

The association also says that there was a 30 per cent annual jump in the number of international passengers during the third quarter of last year.

Travel insurance from InsureandGo can cover Brits who are planning on taking a low-cost cruise holiday in 2009, as well as any other break.
