New roadworks are planned for what is left of the year at the A46 near Stratford-upon-Avon to provide a safer and quieter surface for motorists.

The roadworks will begin on August 28th and are expected to be finished by early November of this year.

Disruption to users of the A46 will be kept to a minimum by using traffic management at road closures, and with much of the work being carried out either overnight or at weekends.

The first scheme for the A46 will widen and strengthen the embankment next to the westbound carriageway just ouside Stratford on Avon.

A steel barrier will be installed for greater safety during the works and there will be a temporary 40 mph speed limit set.

The second scheme will involve the resurfacing of both carriageways of the A46 between the Temple Grafton and Redhill junctions.

This work will be carried out in October as the extent of the resurfacing operation won't allow for overnight work to take place.

'Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and obey all signs and diversion routes,' said Sarah Churcill, Highways Agency project manager.
