For those who feel their holiday snaps are a cut above, the Independent is offering people the chance to shoot a prestigious travel guide in a nationwide competition.
Hosted in conjunction with Insight Guides, the competition asks readers to send in three pictures based on the theme of water.
The lucky winner will then be given an official commission to provide photos for a new edition of one of the guides, while second and third prizes will offer professional photography equipment.
"Entrants have until Friday September 12th 2008 to submit their photographs and the winner will be announced in the travel pages of the Independent on Sunday shortly afterwards with the winning photographic portfolio," the publication explains.
