Egyptian tourism is booming, with new figures having revealed that one million Britons visited the country on holiday last year.

The increased popularity of Egypt and its Red Sea resorts has been driven by a number of factors, including improved accessibility to the area from the UK.

More flights are now operating to the destination, while a number of new tour operators are emerging, bringing the prices of such trips down.

Tourism experts have also pointed to the improved infrastructure within the country as tempting tourists to the destination. Holidaymakers can combine the ancient with the modern, viewing the pyramids and tombs, as well as diving and relaxing by the Red Sea resort beaches.

One in ten of the British holidaymakers stayed in leisure destination El Gouana, according to the report.
