America is becoming an ever-more popular destination thanks to more travel options and the strength of the UK pound against the dollar, according to one expert.
A spokesman for BAA Stansted said that in particular many people would be heading to the US in January to take full advantage of the many winter sales and the growing number of transatlantic flights.
"January is a great time to visit the US - especially if you're looking to pick up a bargain in the post-Christmas sales," the spokesman said.
He added that Stansted now provides direct links to some of the most popular destinations in the US - including New York, Washington, Las Vegas and Los Angeles – - and that this made visiting America easier than ever.
In November this year, the BBC reported that the strength of the pound had grown to the highest rate of exchange seen in 26 years.
