Holders of
travel insurance may be supportive of a call for an airline safety review.
The Air Accidents Investigations Branch has called for the action after initial findings concerning the crash of a British Airways' Boeing 777 at Heathrow in January, travelmole.com reports.
It wants the inquiry to find whether ice blocking the fuel supply, which caused the crash, could also pose a similar danger in other aircraft.
Early indications are that the plane lost power when the fuel flow dropped prior to landing.
The aircraft, carrying 136 passengers and 16 crew, landed short of the runway.
A Boeing spokesperson said operational changes were devised to prevent ice gathering in the system.
In related news, financial data and research company Defaqto has stressed the importance of checking that travel insurance covers terrorist attacks.
It said that only 63 per cent of single trip and annual multi trip policies provide such protection.
While most insurers will probably pay medical claims made as a result of terrorism, they may decline to do so for personal accident and baggage claims.
