Aviation needs to change in the future to win back consumer confidence, one sector expert has noted.
Simon McNamara, director of industry affairs at the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), said that the aviation sector needs to do more to meet the needs of the public if it is to recover from the present economic downturn.
He commented: "Ultimately, if passengers are not prepared to pay, or are not prepared to travel, we have to make sure the industry can meet the needs of the consumer."
Those heading overseas should remember to take out comprehensive
travel insurance prior to their departure to help protect against loss or damage to their belongings.
According to figures compiled by the ERA, passenger demand among the association's members fell by 14 per cent year-on-year in February.
Furthermore, the number of flights being offered diminished by 13 per cent over the same period.
