A number of tips designed to keep pets "happy" were recently outlined by the Glasgow Sunday Mail.
Scott Miller at the publication explains that a weekly health check will allow owners to assess the condition of their animal's skin, teeth, ears, eyes and weight.
He adds that such an examination may allow consumers to identify any problems in their early stages, which may reduce the likelihood of a costly veterinary bill and claim on a
pet insurance policy.
Mr Miller also notes that daily grooming not only helps owners to bond with their animals, but keeps their coat in good condition, too.
Finally, he advised owners to have their animals fitted with a microchip to help make it easier to find them if they become lost.
Hilary Benn recently outlined the importance of caring for pets after visiting an animal hospital in London.
