For those who leave the country more than three times a year, taking out an
annual travel insurance policy may be advisable.
Such is the suggestion of price comparison service Moneysupermarket.com, which suggests that such policies have come down in price considerably in recent years.
"Before they used to be a couple of hundred pounds, but now you can get an annual policy for an individual just going to Europe for just over £30," commented Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at the company.
Regular festival-goers travelling to overseas events like Benacassim in Spain or Exit in Serbia may be among those who could benefit.
Online advisory service Gapyear.com has produced statistics highlighting the benefits of travelling with insurance. According to the firm, 37 per cent of visitors to Spain said that they had experienced a theft, while 19 per cent of those taking a holiday in France were said to have had possession stolen.
