With the threat of floods retreating all across the UK, financial website confused.com has advised
home insurance cover in order to avoid a 'Russian roulette' game with similar disasters.
The recent floods that hit the UK, first in the north and then in areas such as Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, have left many possessions and properties ruined, with homeowners at risk of losing their belongings, said the financial website.
Confused.com estimates that about 25 per cent of households do not have home insurance.
'The consequences of not having insurance or having insufficient cover are potentially severe,' said Debra Williams, managing director of confused.com.
Families should not put their homes in jeopardy for the sake of a mere £20 per month, she further added.
Homeowners who had their electricity cut off because of local flooding, an estimated 50,000 households, might be able to claim back money to replace ruined food, commented the managing director.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) recently advised the government not to build further housing in areas that could potentially flood, as it could severely affect the insurance industry.
