Australia has been named as the top tourism country "brand" in the world in an annual survey.

This is the second year running that the nation has received the number one spot in the Country Brand Index, which is a survey of industry experts and travellers.

Queensland state tourism minister Desley Boyle states: "In my experience what those around the world love about Australians is our attitude, the kind of people we are."

In addition to taking the overall top spot, the country was identified as the best for outdoor activities.

The USA was in second place, while Great Britain came in third, rising from sixth position in 2006.

France and Italy took fourth and fifth place respectively.

In related news, the facility founded by the late Steve Irwin - Australia Zoo - was identified as Queensland's top sightseeing attraction in recent days.

Consumers wishing to take part in outdoor activities while on holiday, in Australia or anywhere else, may find they benefit from contacting InsureandGo to obtain a quote on adventure travel insurance.
