The Austrian Alps have proved particularly popular for those planning both winter and summer family holidays, Investors in Property reports.

According to Jessica Delaney, representative for the firm, around 80 per cent of all sales witnessed by the company are for family holidays.

Children of all ages are being treated to a trip to the Alps, from young kids to teenagers, she noted.

"It's something that brings the family together - horse riding and cycling and things like that," Ms Delaney commented.

She added that people are also increasingly seeing the area not just as a winter sports destination but a summer holiday hotspot too.

A thermal spa resort in Bad Hofgastein, a town near Salzburg, had a lot to offer families visiting the country during the warmer months, Ms Delaney suggested.

Statistics Austria, an official government department, showed that there were 16.7 million tourists during the summer, compared to 14.1 million over the course of the winter season.

InsureandGo offers ski insurance policies for those planning a winter sports holiday, as well as providing cover for over 40 adventure sports automatically.
