Vehicle manufacturer BMW has won two awards at the What Car? Green Car Awards 2009.
Anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle might be interested to hear that the Mini Cooper S has retained the title of Green Sports Car of the Year, while the BMW 318d Saloon has won the Executive Car award.
Each of the models were praised for their environmental performance, with the Mini Cooper S in particular producing less carbon emissions than the rest of its competitors.
Steve Fowler, editor-in-chief at What Car?, said: "The Mini Cooper S is a home-grown hot hatch that's big on performance and style, yet treads far lighter than rivals because of its smaller carbon footprint."
The overall winner of the event was the five-door Ford Fiesta 1.25i 82 Zetec which was voted What Car?'s car of the Year 2009. The judges felt that the overall look of the vehicle had the X factor appeal and that its impressive performance in comparison to other cars in its class was the clincher.
