Preparations are underway as Israeli and Palestinian authorities expect some 60,000 people to visit Bethlehem and other holy sites over the yuletide period.
The Jerusalem Post also reports that almost 10,000 permits to stay in Israel for a period of two to four weeks have been distributed to residents of the Palestinian territories who plan to visit family members during the festivities.
Head of the district coordination office in Bethlehem Lieutenant Colonel Camil Whbee told the publication that there is no limit on the number of permits, aside from security restrictions.
As well as Christmas, the Muslim holiday of Id al-Adha is a particularly busy time for the region.
Established attractions in Bethlehem include the Church of the Nativity and King David's Wells.
