Bilbao 'both bouncing and balmy'

Bilbao, in northern Spain, is famous both for its relaxed daytime atmosphere and its vibrant nightlife, Lonely Planet reports.

Korina Miller, commissioning editor for Spain and Portugal at the travel advisory publication, has said that Bilbao has undergone a comprehensive period of regeneration and is becoming increasingly popular with travellers looking to enjoy its many offerings.

According to cityguide.com, the Gugenheim is the most popular of all tourist destinations within the city, which boasts 11,000 square metres of exhibition space within vast titanium structure designed by internationally acclaimed architect Frank Gehry.

"Given cultural kudos with the Museo Gugenheim, Bilbao has reinvented itself as a vibrant metropolis, something which is increasingly recognised by international visitors," comments Ms Miller.

She adds that Bilbao is particularly well suited to those looking for a little more than the relaxed beach holiday, with its many cultural attractions drawing an ever-growing number of visitors.
