New figures show the postcodes in the UK most likely to suffer from theft, it has been reported.
According to a survey based on three million
home insurancesearches, moneysupermarket.com suggests that homes in Doncaster and Bristol are the most likely to make a claim on insurance for theft or burglary.
The survey suggest that almost six per cent of properties in each of these locations have made a
home insurance claim to do with theft or burglary over the past year, making them joint top of the heap for the places most likely to be stolen from in.
Canvey Island, off the coast of Essex, comes next with just over five per cent of residents making a claim in the last 12 months.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, said: "If your property is classified as being in a ‘high-risk' area - whether that be for crime, or something like flooding or subsidence, it could be reflected in your insurance premiums."
Also featured on the list were Nottingham, in fourth place, Birmingham in fifth and Leeds in 17th place.
