A section of highway in Lancashire has been named Britain's most dangerous road, according to new research by the Road Safety Foundation for the European Road Assessment Programme (EuroRAP).
The stretch is a 15-mile section of the A682, where there have been nearly 100 deaths or serious injuries in the past ten years.
This section of the A682 was placed in the highest risk category, the only road that held this ranking in the report.
Some 16 other roads were placed at the next level, as medium to high risk.
"The good news from the survey is that many of Britain's authorities have brought in countermeasures to tackle the higher risk routes in their areas," said Dr Joanne Hill to the Worthing Herald.
According to Dr Hill, all other roads score well in preventing at least one type of accident, the A682 being the only road that ranked poorly across the board.
