An industry expert has said that British holidaymakers have changed the pattern of their vacations over the last ten years.
Sian Brenchley of VisitBritain said that people in the UK were steering away from the traditional two-week holiday and instead are choosing to take more frequent shorter breaks spread out throughout the year.
Farmstay breaks in the UK are increasing in popularity she said, which are an "excellent way" to experience Britain in a new light and be "fully involved" in the holiday experience.
She also pointed out that they are educationally beneficial for families and could be attractive for city dwellers not used to the great outdoors.
Figures from responsibletravel.com say that interest in farmstay holidays in the UK has increased by 106 per cent over the last year which they say reflects the growing trend of agro tourism. British farmers are increasingly getting on board with the idea of using their farms for tourism as a way to earn extra income, it was reported.
