Purchasing
cheap travel insurance may be one option for holidaymakers looking to limit the cost of a break before they head away. But people are also looking to limit their expenditure once abroad by making their money go further, an expert has claimed.
Luke Fredberg, spokesperson for TripAdvisor, said that the recession has put more emphasis for Brits on relaxing while on their holidays and also on getting the best value for money.
It is for this reason that more people are choosing to visit non-euro currency destinations like Turkey, he noted.
Mr Fredberg commented: "People are always going to go to Spain but we do see people looking at destinations like Turkey where the sterling is reasonably strong against the lira."
Marc Cogliatti, currency strategist at HiFX, recently argued that the growing strength of sterling against the euro is good news for British travellers looking to get more their money in Europe this summer.
He noted that the sterling is now 15 per cent higher against the euro than it was at the start of the year.
