Nearly a quarter (24 per cent) of people dream of spending their retirement travelling the world, new research has shown.
According to MGM Advantage, people are unwilling to let the current financial gloom drag them down and are setting their expectations for retirement high.
Indeed, 1 in 50 of those questioned by the mutual company said they hoped to embark on a trip to space in their later years.
Meanwhile, 42 per cent of people said they simply desired to travel more when they reached their retirement.
However, the group warned: "Of course, our retirement dreams need to be paid for and that's where many of us are simply not prepared."
As such, it urged those planning for a dream retirement to make sure they consult an independent financial adviser to make sure they can make the most of their golden years.
Elsewhere, Scottish Widows has reported that travel is the most popular pastime for retirees, with 45 per cent of people regularly making excursions throughout the UK and overseas.
