A growing number of Britons are looking to take part in winter sports holidays, it has been suggested by one adventure travel firm.

Commenting recently, Tom Gordon-Walker, marketing director at Nonstopadventure.com, there has been an increase of up to 100 per cent in the uptake of some winter sports holidays offered by the firm.

Noting reasons for the popularity of such overseas vacations, Mr Gordon-Walker suggested that although Britain is a relatively cold country, the mountains of Europe have always offered unparalleled winter sports opportunities.

He Continued: "Now we are looking to go somewhere a bit further a field to places we have not tried before, because of the exchange rates and the flights are shorter than people realise."

A Foreign & Commonwealth report published earlier this year urged consumers to take precaution before travelling abroad on a winter sports holiday, with 31 per cent of Britons estimated to neglect to take out ski insurance before they travel.

InsureandGo offers specialist ski insurance policies that provide robust cover to ensure people can hit the slopes with peace of mind.
