The number of Britons travelling to the States on shopping trips has increased in recent months as people look to take advantage of the weak dollar, it has been suggested.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), now is the time to bag a bargain across the Atlantic, although consumers are advised not to exceed their tax limit on items that they bring home.
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for the ABTA, said: "You've got to be careful about your tax limit, but otherwise it's a good place to go shopping. Any other countries that take the dollar will also be good places to go."
Meanwhile, TheSite.org notes that the rise in cheap, readily-available overseas flights has meant that a growing number of UK residents are looking to spend their money overseas.
Nearly a quarter of Britons regularly do their Christmas shopping abroad, the online resource notes, with online purchasing providing a further boost to international companies.
