A new travel survey has revealed that Brits are getting more adventurous with their holiday plans.

BCCA Travel, a division of the Canadian Automobile Association, surveyed over a hundred travel experts and found that an increasing number of Britons were booking adventure holidays, reports Reuters.

The association indicates that it is not just young people with a thirst for adventure, detailing that it is baby boomers who are most likely to add an element of adventure to their trip.

"The boomers are the ones who can afford to take their families on these vacations," BCAA Travel's Dale Urquhart stated.

Commenting on the appeal of adventure holidays for women, families and over-50s, Mr Urquhart suggested that such trips were "the stuff they can tell their friends about".

Those interested in booking an adventure holiday should be aware that special travel insurance cover exists for such trips.

Meanwhile, Britons may be able to extend their holiday plans following the release of a study by Thomas Cook showing significant support among MPs for the introduction of a new bank holiday.

Over 40 adventure sports are covered automatically by InsureandGo's travel insurance policies.
