More people are turning to two-wheeled vehicles to cut down the time of the daily commute, it has been claimed.

Britons across the UK are taking out motorcycle insurance and purchasing bikes and scooters to help reduce the time it takes them to get to work, as they are able to cut out traffic difficulties each day.

According to research by the Motor Cycle Industry Association, 52 per cent of all motorcycle trips in 2008 were made in the interest of commuting, while the average motorcyclist said that a third of all their trips made on their bike were for this purpose - compared to just 22 per cent of car drivers.

Meanwhile, vehicle information compiler HPI recently revealed a rise in the number of Britons being taken for a ride when it comes to purchasing a new bike.

The study showed that up to a fifth of all bikes purchased in the UK have a hidden past, a development which could be problematic as this fact could invalidate a person's motorcycle insurance.

InsureandGo offers motorcycle insurance for anyone interested in potentially cutting down the time it takes to get to work.
