British holidaymakers will drive holiday sales further starting on Monday as many start their plans for the August bank holiday.

Travel insurance, foreign currency and new clothes will be among the items Brits will be looking to start buying on Monday with just a few days left before the August bank holiday, according to M&S Money.

The company reported that there is usually a 60 per cent upturn in business in this season, with holiday bookings increasing by a similar 40 per cent.

And the company also agreed with the British public's strategy of leaving planning to the very last minute.

"Waiting until ten days before a holiday means that these bargains can be bagged at the same time as purchasing holiday essentials like travel money," said travel money manager for M&S Money James Yerkess.

Unexpectedly poor weather in Britain, with heavy rains throughout the summer, are also expected to drive up numbers to an estimated two million Britons hitting the shops starting this week.

Make sure to get that travel insurance before you go off this August, check online or call InsureandGo for quotes on great value deals.
