Some Brits who travel abroad are becoming increasingly keen to 'give back', it has been claimed.

And eco-conscious Brits should make sure they are just as concerned with their holiday insurance cover, to save financial problems in the future should an accident occur.

According to travel expert i-to-i, tourists from the UK are keen to take breaks which are more socially responsible.

Jan Ashton, a travel adviser for the firm, said: "People want to do something. They are more serious now about what their carbon emissions [are] and what they are doing when they're travelling."

Such breaks can take people to exotic and far-flung destinations, meaning travel insurance is essential in case of any unforeseen issues with the trip.

VSO, an international development charity, said that there had been a significant rise in enquiries about volunteer placements during the start of this year.

Adventure insurance from InsureandGo covers 40 activities as standard and could give Brits the right level of cover for a volunteering holiday.
