While haggling over holiday insurance may not be the wisest move ahead of a break, while on their travels holidaymakers should remember that haggling can often help to bring down the total cost of a trip.

PR manager at Hotels.com Cordy Griffiths said that Brits abroad were starting to feel more comfortable with haggling over prices when on holiday - and not just in destinations such as Morocco or Thailand.

Research from the website says that people from the UK are saving £1.7 billion each year by haggling over prices on their trips.

More than three quarters of people surveyed said they regularly sought to get a bargain by debating prices on their travels.

It has been widely suggested that despite the current economic climate, UK holidaymakers are still planning to take their summer holidays.

Figures published by Visit London and Visit Britain show that people in the UK are prepared to cut back on spending on food in order to save cash for a trip.

Holiday insurance from InsureandGo is a low-cost way to guarantee any problems abroad are covered.
