Many couples who are planning to get married are becoming more flexible about their big day, with many choosing to have the ceremony abroad, it has been claimed.
Cathy Howes, deputy editor of You & Your Wedding magazine, said there is a growing trend for couples to tie the knot in far-flung destinations, as this can help to bring down the price tag of their big day, as fewer guests can greatly reduce the amount a wedding costs overall.
She commented: "There are plenty of couples who go for the low-key wedding in Europe with small numbers, say ten to 20 guests. Cyprus, Italy and Greece are very popular."
According to Ecclesiastical, January is the least popular month in which which Brits plan to get married, with virtually no weddings taking place during the first two weekends of the year.
Furthermore, other unpopular months include December, March, November and February.
