Britons about to go on holiday do not trust their cleaners with the house keys, a new survey by Legal & General has revealed.
Only three per cent of the 4,300 British respondents would trust their cleaners with the house keys while they are enjoying their time in the sun.
This despite a £4 billion a year surge in the domestic help market that has made Britons more dependent on their help than ever before.
And only two per cent of Britons would extend their trust to builders and other tradesmen while they are in a far off land.
A more substantial 42 per cent would allow their neighbours to check the house and water their plants when they were away.
People who were single were less likely to turn to their neighbours, being 13 percentage points below the average.
Whereas busy professionals were the most likely to rely on fiends and colleagues to make sure their homes were okay, at just under 70 per cent of professionals living together trusting this method.
The majority of those surveyed, 66 per cent, would rely on their family with the house keys.
