UK travellers are taking out more
adventure insurance and making the most of long-haul trips by getting involved in exciting getaways, it has been claimed.
Frances Tuke, a spokesperson for ABTA - The Travel Association, said UK holidaymakers no longer want to simply laze around on the beach when they have travelled half way around the world.
Instead, they are looking to get active and ensure they sample all the delights their destination has to offer.
She commented: "A lot of destinations are bubbling through because we have become more adventurous, essentially, and we are looking for a little bit more when it comes to travel. We want personal fulfilment, we are not just looking to flock and drop on to the beaches."
According to travel company Kuoni, the top ten long-haul destinations for 2010 are likely to be the Maldives, Thailand, the US, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, China and Hong Kong, Switzerland and Singapore.
