Brits who decided to forgo a holiday in 2009 and instead opted to stay in the UK will more than likely take the opportunity of the economic recovery to head abroad this year, it has been claimed.
Ian Bradley, a spokesperson for the Association of Independent Travel Operators, said many Brits are likely to take out
holiday insurance and get away from it all in the months ahead and the fact there are more flights now available could help make this a reality.
He commented: "People are definitely travelling more as the global recession eases and people feel confident to travel more. However, global airline capacity increasing has little to do with people travelling, all it means is more available seats."
According to Official Airline Guide, global airline frequency and capacity in the low-cost sector are up by 11 per cent this month compared to a year ago, with 40,704 more flights and 6.1 million more seats available.
