People who take a holiday without travel insurance could risk court action if they are involved in an incident while abroad.

According to Perry Wilson, founder of InsureandGo, many people are not aware that should they cause an injury to someone else and the injured person can't work, they could get into serious trouble if the person sued them.

Mr Wilson went on to mention specific holidays such as winter sports breaks, stating that on such holidays people just "throw it out the window that being under the influence doesn't matter anymore".

He said that being drunk while skiing or snowboarding could have serious consequences should an injury to someone else occur, saying that in this "modern day of litigation" people were likely to sue if they couldn't work due to a holiday accident.

Many holiday insurance policies are void if travellers are intoxicated when an incident occurs and people might find checking this on their documents a wise move before jetting off.

Holiday insurance from InsureandGo can provide low-cost cover for accidents abroad and its specific winter sports insurance can cover breaks which include skiing or snowboarding.
