Burgundy is popular among Brits because of its wine and old cities, it has been suggested.
And holidaymakers wishing to bring back any wine or other souvenir items from their trip may want to check that their
travel insurance covers them for any damage which might occur.
Veronique Beigenger, Burgundy press officer at the French government tourist office, said the area was home to two world famous tourist destinations.
She points out that the Abbey of Fontenay and the Church of Vezelay - which are both UNESCO World Heritage sites - bring a lot of visitors to the region.
Ms Beigenger also points out that the area could offer many activities for families looking to take a break abroad.
"We have a very important network of rivers and canals and you can explore them by bike," she says, going on to say that this way of exploring is easy and safe for children.
