The Ford Galaxy and S-Max models have shown themselves to be the favourites of businessmen looking to make a big impression on their peers as they triumphed at BusinessCar magazine awards.
The new fleet car of the year for 2007 and best mini multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) went to the S-Max while the Galaxy was voted the best MPV in its class.
The news will come as a boost for Ford Europe, which remains profitable while its North American counterpart is currently reeling from the announcement of the worst losses in its 103-year history.
Commenting on the awards for S-Max, BusinessCar editor-in-chief Tristan Young said: "First impressions are what count. So when we first described the Ford S-Max as a genuine breath of fresh air it's fair to say it was off to a good start.
"And now that good start has got better, because not only does the S-Max collect its segment top prize here, but it gallops off with our prestigious new car of the year award too."
Meanwhile, referring to the Galaxy victory, Kevin Griffin, Ford director of fleet operations, said: "We needed to meet the needs for a large MPV to retain its customer base, but importantly, not neglect the outstanding driving dynamics that are the blueprint for all Ford vehicles."
