A new report has found that despite economic concerns, the business travel market is continuing to grow.
The Barclaycard Business Travel Survey 2008 reveals that firms are remaining optimistic in the face of gloomy financial forecasts and are undertaking an increased number of business trips to secure economic growth.
According to the study, 44 per cent of respondents travelled more in 2007 than they did in 2006, with a further third planning to travel more in 2008 than they did last year.
Denise Leleux, director of commercial cards for Barclaycard Business said: "Travelling on business to expand into new markets or win new business has always been an indicator of economic confidence. This year's results show that confidence is still there."
However, Ms Leleux noted that the study did see businesses becoming more cost conscious, with a growing number of firms opting for no-frills services.
Elsewhere, the Times reports that British Airways has seen a drop in the number of business class customers, with a five per cent fall noted in the number of people using the service.
