Those who have to travel across the Atlantic from the US to Europe for business are being hit by high costs, it has been claimed.
The Mercury News reports that cost has "become a major factor" in planning European business trips as the euro and pound continue to be strong.
Jordan Ringel, a lawyer from New York, is quoted as saying he flies business class to London for meetings but stays with a friend rather than in a hotel. He also does the same in Paris but when travelling outside the "eurozone" to places like Shanghai he stays in "up scale" hotels.
All this is because of the cost of staying in Europe, the report claims, also saying that many American business travellers are looking for alternative places to stay and travelling by bike or walking to get away from high prices of accommodation and transport.
Forbes recently reported that the "eurozone" financial system is stronger than the one in the US, according to Eurogroup chairman Jean-Claude Juncker.
