Motor insurance customers looking for a new vehicle may be interested in a new survey which claims buying a new car "never been cheaper".
The study, put together by Auto Express, looked at a range of entry level models and compared them with their predecessors from 1998 taking the current Retail Price Index and rates of inflation into account.
It was revealed that UK drivers are currently paying around 17.3 per cent less than they were a decade ago on a range of popular family cars.
Renault's Megane was found to be 35.6 per cent cheaper than in 1998 and the Ford Fiesta (22.4 per cent), Vauxhall Corsa (20.2 per cent) and Vauxhall Vectra (16.8 per cent) were all found to be significantly cheaper on comparison.
The RPI is published on a monthly basis by the Office for National Statistics and acts as a guide to measure levels of inflation and consumer pricing in the UK.
