Spanish firm NSOK Safaris wishes to use 247,100 acres of land in the Rattanakiri province for the scheme.
Deputy director of the agriculture ministry's wildlife protection office Dany Chheang stated that establishing hunting safaris fits in with governmental efforts to "diversify options for eco-tourism activity in Cambodia".
He added that the project envisages the creation of luxury accommodation for "high-class, VIP tourists ... or professional hunters".
Elsewhere in the region, it was recently reported by the Vietnam News Agency that steps are being taken to protect rare Mekong River dolphins in the Cambodia provinces of Stungcheng and Crache.
