Camping holidays offer activities for people of all ages and holiday habits, according to a spokesperson from Keycamp.
Furthermore, such vacations are becoming increasingly popular among British holidaymakers, says Dave Mckenna, head of brands at the organisation.
Particular benefits cited by Mr Mckenna included access to acres of open countryside and excellent on-site facilities.
"Camping is becoming more and more popular, with people choosing to have a break from city life and enjoy the freedom, fun and great value of a campsite holiday," he said.
The AA also reported a "boom" in the popularity of campsite holidays, with the rise in popularity even affecting the choice of cars that people are buying.
It was also stated in the Times that in 2005, over 4.9 million people spent one night or more in a caravan or tent.
Mr Mckenna added that part of the appeal of camping is that it allowed people access to the real culture of destinations throughout Europe, letting travellers "immerse themselves in the local traditions and cuisine".
