The need to take out car cover was reiterated in recent days by the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).

Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at Biba, reminded consumers that if they own a vehicle then motor insurance is a legal requirement.

Continuing, he explained that home insurance is also an important purchase.

"Home insurance is absolutely the second most important insurance you can buy," he noted, adding that if a consumer has a mortgage then there will be contract between them and their provider.

Within the terms of the deal, it will almost certainly state that the individual must have buildings insurance or be in breach of the contract, he concluded.

Following 2007's floods, the Times reported that the cost of cleaning up the mess would be in excess of £2 million.

Consumers shopping around for a home and car insurance policy may well find that they can get a great deal from InsureandGo.
