A new report has found that Ford customers demonstrate the most loyalty when replacing their car after an accident.

The study by Admiral found that when looking at car insurance claims for vehicles that had been written off, Ford owners opted for the same brand replacement most often.

In particular, Ford Focus owners were most likely to buy the same model after an accident, the survey found.

Volkswagen came in second place with a 39.9 per cent loyalty rate. Seat was bottom of the list with 14.8 per cent of people replacing their car with the same make.

Admiral managing director Sue Longthorn said: "These figures show that Ford and Volkswagen are making an excellent impression on their owners as they are the most loyal when it comes to replacing their cars."

A recent study by JATO Dynamics found that the Ford Focus was the third most popular car throughout Europe in 2007, with 406,577 cars sold during the year.

The Peugeot 207 topped the list with 437,505 cars sold throughout Europe.
