Lying on a
car insurance policy could have serious consequences for motorists, it has been pointed out.
Writing for MSN Money, Laura Starkey says that while in everyday life the odd white lie can be acceptable, lying on insurance polices is another matter.
She notes that "being economical with the truth" can amount to fraud and lead to high financial costs.
When applying
holiday insurance or car insurance, people have to declare anything which may affect their level of cover, such as illness or driving convictions.
Ms Starkey goes on to point out a number of different ways in which people lie on their car insurance policies.
These include claiming to be the main driver of the vehicle when you aren't - known as fronting - and saying that your car is the standard model when it actually has a number of modifications.
KIDK recently noted that car insurance was one expense which should not be scrimped on during the economic crisis.
