Car insurance provider swiftcover.com has produced a guide that aims to explode some of the myths surrounding driving and the law.
The April Swift Guide aims to "unravel" some of the most common misunderstanding like whether or not a motorist is responsible for passengers wearing seat-belts.
The answer to this is that it is the driver's responsibility to ensure children are wearing seat-belts but adults are responsible for themselves.
Drivers that want to know if they are insured if they have an accident while on a mobile, eating or smoking will be pleased to know that the answer is yes. However, this is not the end of the matter.
"There may be an argument about due care and attention," says claims director Robin Reames.
"If you were injured by another driver and it was found that you were eating a sandwich and using the phone at the time of the accident, there may be an argument of contributory negligence."
This means injuries were "contributed" by the driver's own negligence, which can subsequently lead to a reduced insurance payout.
Last month, swiftcover.com advised drivers who have a car accident in Europe to obtain the names, addresses of all others involved, as well as vehicles, insurance and witness details.
