The Automobile Association (AA) has advised British motorists to be ready for rises in
car insurance premiums.
A survey for Churcill reported by site moneyhighstreet.com showed that the lengths drivers are ready to go to to avoid points on their licence is putting pressure on the cost of insurance premiums.
Almost 30 per cent of UK drivers said they would happily accept their partner's points in order to save them from losing their licence.
And just under a quarter reported they would happily do the reverse, asking their partner to cover for them.
The AA revealed that, in the first quarter of 2007, the typical cost of fully comprehensive car insurance was now at just over £800, as premiums had risen by an average of six per cent throughout last year.
But the AA also said that as new providers enter the market competition might fuel better deals and lower prices and help fight rising premiums.
