Greater Manchester Police have released a list of the top ten items that are most likely to be taken from vehicles in an attempt to make motorists more vigilant and potentially reduce the likelihood of having to make a
car insurance claim.
The data is based on details of the objects most likely to be taken from automobiles in Oldham last December.
In first place is the licence plate, followed by mobile phones and then clothing and CD players in joint third position.
Finishing off the top five were satnav systems and vehicle parts.
Chief superintendent Caroline Ball comments: "Remove all valuables from your car and leave your glove compartment open if it's empty. Number plates were top of the list last year so it is well worth investing in tamper proof screws, available from most auto centres."
In recent weeks,
car insurance provider Admiral identified London as the UK's car crime capital.
