Holidaymakers concerned about value for money could be interested to learn that caravan parks are "much better" than a decade ago.

Spokesperson for the National Caravan Council (NCC) Louise Wood said that those who had not been to a caravan park for a while could find them very different.

Caravanning could be a low-cost way of exploring the country - and figures from the NCC suggest that it is rising in popularity.

According to the group, around two million extra caravan holidays may be taken this year.

This brings the total amount of caravan, motorhome and caravan holiday home breaks in the UK to an expected 14 million for 2009.

The Caravan Club has enjoyed an increase in bookings, with advanced reservations up by 40 per cent when compared to last year.

Holiday insurance from InsureandGo can protect against events which impact holidays taken close to home or farther afield.
