The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) said on Friday that it has taken action against 13 airlines to prevent misleading advertising on websites.
According to the OFT, 11 airlines had already acted and changed their advertisements and websites to include clearer advertising on pricing.
Two other airlines, Aer Lingus and Ryanair, had changed their homepages but said that due to technical difficulties had been unable to overhaul the whole booking process from scratch.
The OFT said it was satisfied that the other two airlines would soon make the necessary changes to their web pages.
Actions by the OFT were after complaints by customers that airlines only gave the full pricing when the final part of the booking process was reached, often leaving details on taxes and non-optional costs until the very end.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) in June and had already taken action by handing out fines to members who did not comply with its requirements in terms of advertising of fares.
